Content Sources

There are three sources of content in Alpenglow. "Internal Site Content" means text and images that was neither entered by users of this site nor imported from third party data sources. This page is an example of Internal Site Content. "User Entered Content" means text, images and photos, geographic information, and all other freely viewable content entered into Alpenglow by registered users of this site. "Third Party Licensed Content" means text, geographic coordinates, and other data provided by third party organizations and licensed for use by Alpenglow. Third Party Licensed Content was not manually entered by users, but was imported into Alpenglow using automated tools.

Internal Site Content

Internal Site Content, such as this page, is Copyright © Coast Mountain Software Factory and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 (Unported).

User Entered Content

To ensure the future reach and availability of the knowledge base inside these pages, all users contributing to this site are required to make their contributions available to the general public under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 (Unported). This licensing is mandatory for all User Entered Content on this site, and cannot be revoked by the User at a later date. Please note that the Creative Commons license used by Alpenglow does allow commercial use, as long as the use complies with the terms of the license.

Users are forbidden from contributing or uploading content to which they do not hold the copyright. If users contribute or upload content for which they do not hold the copyright, then Creative Commons licensing does not apply. If you are aware of content which violates copyright on this site, please notify the site administrator. We will remove it from the system as quickly as we can.

Users retain the copyright of the User Entered Content they contribute to Alpenglow. As a result, Alpenglow does not have the authority to change the license terms for User Entered Content. If you would like to use User Entered Content under a different license, then you must contact all of the authors of the content and negotiate with each one of them individually.

Third Party Licensed Content

Certain pieces of content, notably geographic data including, but not limited to, Canadian Mountains and Resource and Recreational Roads, were imported from data provided from third parties. The portion of the content that was derived from this data is licensed from the original providers, who also retain any copyright associated with them. Third Party Licensed Content is not owned by Alpenglow, and may or may not be licensed under the Creative Commons. You can identify Third Party Licensed Content by the name of the Author listed at the bottom of the page. Any mountain or road that was authored by the following "users" contain Third Party Licensed Content:

GeoBase Content

Some Canadian mountain names and road information information was obtained from GeoBase. This data is the property of Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada. Alpenglow has licensed it for use on this site under the terms of the GeoBase Unrestricted Use Licence Agreement. Under the terms of our license with GeoBase, we sublicense you to use this data under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 (Unported). If you wish to use this data in another work under a different license, we suggest that you obtain it from the source.
